Company Information: Automotive Parts Headquarters, Inc. (APH) is a privately held automotive parts retailer and wholesaler serving Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and North Dakota. APH was formed in 1920 under the name National Bushing and Parts Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In 1938 Jack Bartlett joined the company as a janitor while he was finishing high school. He worked his way up through various positions until he became Store Manager and then in 1959, a financial partner in the St. Cloud store and several other locations. Jack led the team which produced rapid store growth and the acquisition of Minnesota Parts Warehouse; which ultimately became Automotive Parts Headquarters. Jack Bartlett was instrumental in providing the opportunity for future company expansion.
When Jack passed away in 1976, his son John, who was already involved in the business, stepped into the role of President. John, over the next thirty years was responsible for significant company store and independent customer growth. This growth culminated in the move to a 160,000 sq ft distribution center in 2006 to serve APH’s ever expanding business.
Today, with its network of company stores and independent store customers, APH is consistently ranked in the Aftermarket Business’ top 50 Auto Parts Store Chains. John, in 2008 became CEO and passed the role of President to a third generation of the Bartlett family, Corey, who was previously engaged in APH’s management. Job Summary: We are currently seeking a counter salesperson for our Auto Value - Park Rapids location. The counter salesperson is a main point of contact for our retail and wholesale customers. The counter salesperson is responsible for greeting the customer (on the phone or in person) and assisting the customer and/or resolving their concerns/complaint(s). The counter salesperson is also responsible for maintaining store appearance, security, safety and daily operational duties, as set by the manager.
Qualifications: A counter salesperson is an individual who has strong interpersonal and organizational skills. A counter sales person needs to be effective at multi-tasking, dealing with multiple customers at any given time. A counter salesperson must have strong verbal communication skills and act in a professional manner while interacting with customers and co-workers. A counter salesperson should possess adequate written communication skills and basic computer knowledge. A counter salesperson should have one to two years of automotive aftermarket experience and a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
Requirements: A counter salesperson works primarily indoors in a clean store environment or driving a motor vehicle making deliveries, but also may spend time in the warehouse and outdoors, subject to significant temperature variations and shop conditions. Based on this working environment and the nature of the job, a counter salesperson must be able to stand for prolonged periods on hard surfaces, frequent bending, stooping, stretching and climbing stairs. A counter salesperson must be able to frequently lift up to 50lbs. A counter salesperson must also have a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to our insurance company.
