Opportunity and position information: Quality Diesel Technician needed for immediate full time opening!
Title of this position’s Supervisor (reports to): Shop Manager/Tech in Charge/Contract Manager

Job Purpose: Maintains, repairs, and overhauls vehicles under contract, or school buses and school bus equipment. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Directs the work of others. Trains and motivates maintenance staff.

Major Responsibilities: List in order of importance
1)  Repairs and maintains diesel engines and school bus equipment.

2)  Schedules and administers fleet maintenance, assists in troubleshooting problems with equipment. Communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and Service Manager.

3)  Delegates responsibilities as appropriate and monitors performance; handles disciplinary concerns and employee development.

4)  Ensures compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal and Company requirements

5)  Works closely with Contract Manager providing status of maintenance and budget requirements.  Reviews repair orders.

6)  May order fuel for all vehicles, order parts, and subcontract repair work.
7)  Supervises bus fueling.  May arrange services for building and ground keeping.
8)  Completes special projects as assigned.  Required to perform hands-on work activities.

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
*High school diploma or equivalent
*Technical training preferred
*CDL Operator’s license with required endorsements

Experience & Skills Required:
*3+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience.
*May require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs.
*Good written and oral communication skills.
*Computer skills.
*Industry experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment is preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions (include amount of travel):
*Maintenance Shop
*Must be able to work in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic’s dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment; subjected to dust, dirt, and grease conditions.
